As a fashion student I am aware of the severe impact the fashion industry has on our environment. I decided that with KAVANAI, I wanted to take a slow fashion approach. This is for a several  reasons, of course, our environment being the main one. I also found it disheartening that fashion is no longer being seen as an art, and the craftsmanship behind the making of garments has been diminished in the minds of consumers as a result of fast fashion. 

As the founder of KAVANAI one of my main goals is to shift our mindset back to appreciating fashion as an art, by focusing on integrating quality at the core of our brand. When designing I think of myself as one of you, our customers. Would I wear this in the next 10, 20 years, or for a lifetime? That is why I design all our garments with trends out of mind, but longevity in mind. I truly hope you as our customers feel the intricacy that has gone into the making of our garments, and begin to embrace the beauty of the ‘slow’ in fashion.
